ROBERT LYDALL JOHNSTON (1946 – 2016)
It is with profound sadness that we have to announce that the remaining founding Partner of Peacock Johnston, Robert (Robin) Lydall Johnston, passed away on Thursday 28th April.
Robin was 35 when he and the late Jim Peacock founded Peacock Johnston in 1981 and Robin remained the Conveyancing and Chambers Partner of the firm for the following 30 years until his retirement in June 2011.
As a commercial lawyer he was enormously capable and handled large commercial transactions which would normally have been the preserve of larger firms, while at the same time dealing with a wide variety of maters ranging from domestic property transactions to Wills and Executry work. Robin was a versatile lawyer and his practical and down to earth approach enabled him to service the community of his beloved home town of Beith, of which he was immensely proud.
We at Peacock Johnston owe Robin Johnston a huge debt of gratitude, particularly because during the late 1980’s and 1990’s, it was Robin’s efforts and success as a commercial conveyancer that enabled Peacock Johnston to thrive. For those of us who knew and worked with Robin, we will remember a kind & gentle man, a man who had time for everyone and everything. He was a friend with an appetite for life, with never a harsh word, and was held in respect and affection by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife Margaret, his children Rob and Lindsay. The funeral will take place on Monday 9th May at 3pm at Holmsford Bridge Crematorium, by Dreghorn, KA11 4EF.
